Quail Restaurant & Rooms
With just 3 rooms for accommodation and 12 covers in the Restaurant, this is
undoubtedly the smallest Golf Hotel & Restaurant in Scotland. Owned and run by Michael & Kerensa Carr, who renovated this Victorian
Highland Town-House in the centre of the Royal Burgh of Dornoch, in 1995,
to high standards of comfort, they also ensured that the character of
a family home was preserved. Genial, friendly & hospitable, your hosts, (who are also golf enthusiasts),
give you personal service. 2 Quail is therefore very much a home from
home. There is a library/lounge, where you can relax during the day or
have drinks before & after dinner. In the intimate setting of the Restaurant dining room, you can look
forward to excellent cuisine with honest & attentive service. Michael,
who trained at the Ritz Hotel in London, cooks using traditional skills
with modern sensitivities.
There is a daily set 4-course dinner menu, using the best of Scottish produce,
though flavours from further afield are utilised when needed. Wherever his
culinary
journey takes him, his commitment to quality is always evident.
2
Quail, awarded two AA rosettes in
the Restaurant and five diamonds for
its accommodation, is one of the best places to stay & dine in
the area.
2 Quail is open to non-residents, so if you wished to dine, you will need to
make a table reservation, when you book your room. If you do not, there may
not be a table free when you arrive. We appreciate guests dining once during their stay, but this is not
obligatory. There are a number of other places to eat in Dornoch, for
a variety of budgets.
2 Quail Restaurant is closed Sunday & Monday evenings, accommodation is
available 7 days a week, if booked in advance. Winter opening hours vary, please
phone to check availability.
If you should wish to stay on any of the nights that the Restaurant is closed,
please do not hesitate to discuss your needs with us when you book, we will
do all we can to make your stay an enjoyable one Michael buys meats from J M Munro, the butchers in Dingwall, fish from
Fish Platter in Inverness, and also shellfish from Isle of Skye Seafood,
